Thomas J. Siepmann

​Tom serves as outside counsel with a focus primarily in patents and licensing. Leveraging his extensive experience in chemical and biological intellectual property, Tom provides significant support to firm clients with respect to patent procurement, enforcement, and opinions.

Tom's experience includes over two decades of preparing and prosecuting patent applications, preparing fit-to-purpose validity and infringement opinions, negotiating and executing patent licensing agreements, as well as post-grant work such as patent interference proceedings.

His legal experience began at two intellectual property boutique law firms in Salt Lake City and the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. In addition to his law firm experience, Tom served as Director of Intellectual Property at Affymetrix, Inc. (now Thermo Fisher Scientific) in California. During his in-house stint, Tom not only drafted and prosecuted patent applications, but also drafted and negotiated numerous patent licensing agreements, scientific collaboration agreements, consortium agreements, and common material transfer and non-disclosure agreements.
